“Bright and colorful under the Ohio scene are the cheerful fields and houses in the paintings of August F. Biehle... farmyard done in a semi-abstract manner showing masses of color joined together in a mosaic. His style gives an interesting movement to the scene.” Ray Bruner, Cleveland News

“He has developed his own effective technique of combining crayon with watercolor, undoubtedly inspired by his work as a lithographer. He is now experimenting with abstraction, and approaches the problem in a novel way, painting a realistic picture and superimposing the skeleton onto his composition, which is what an abstraction is anyway.
Biehle’s watercolors are not realistic but highly romantic. Biehle has changed nature's colors and topography to suit himself, and the results may be somewhat sweetened, but fresh, enthusiastic and charming.” Louise Bruner
